DECADES OF
VIOLENCE
Insurgencies have been ongoing in Myanmar since 1948, the year the country, then known as Burma, gained independence from the United Kingdom. The conflict has largely been ethnic-based, with several ethnic armed groups fighting Myanmar's armed forces. The resulting trauma to the population is now inter-generational and wide spread.
The Military coup on February 1st, 2021 has reignited violence and thrown the country into yet another crisis. As of 12 April 2021, at least 707 civilians, including children, have been killed by military or police forces and at least 3,070 people detained.
Our Planted for Purpose Trauma Healing and Reconciliation Course is now being used to bring hope and restoration to the people of Myanmar.
